It's a blast from the past! Holy cow, did we have fun celebrating my husband with this childhood-themed birthday party! What made it even better is that it was a surprise party:) I sent my husband to go do fun things with his closest friends and brothers the few days leading up to his birthday and when he got back we had all of our friends gathered together, dressed in their 90s best, ready to celebrate. It was a blast!
Canva is seriously the best when it comes to customizing invitations and other decorations, especially when you have something very specific in mind. I sent these out a few weeks in advance, got the RSVPs so I knew how many people were coming to dinner, and then got planning!
My main plan was to take my husband to his favorite place for dinner (pad thai!) and then back to our house for a night filled with 90s treats and games. I got a lot of the board games from the thrift store and then borrowed the N64 and all those games from a friend. It's amazing how bad the N64 graphics are, you kinda forget after so many years.
I ordered a simple 90s-themed decoration package from Amazon and then got all of the yummy snacks from the grocery store. Doesn't it remind you of your childhood??
I tried something new by making this cake myself! I had never used fondant before so I decided to give it a go. The recipe is on the Party Packages page, but basically I did tie dye on the inside of the cake and then colorful 90s shapes on the outside. Not bad for my first time, right?
I even got a disposable camera that got passed around during the night for friends to take pictures. It was seriously so much fun!
