My oldest son turned two on Tuesday the 22nd! On a day filled with "twos" we of course had to celebrate with a "Taco Two-sday" birthday party!
I had just had our second son exactly 6 weeks before this party, so I didn't have much energy to go "all out", but I still wanted to make it fun. Birthdays are always a good reason to celebrate!
I made this invitation using Google Docs...yup...it was before I knew about Canva. I printed these out and mailed them to our family and friends. I always love sending invitations in the mail because I think receiving mail is such a fun thing and it's also helpful to have a physical reminder of these events.
Google Docs came in handy again with these taco signs. I printed them up and hung them near our food table, just for fun:)
Here's the food table! I got the cute banner from Amazon and the tablecloth was just a blanket my in-laws had from one of their trips to Mexico. We bought carne asada from a Mexican grocery store, cooked it up, and served it with warm tortillas, taco toppings, and our favorite salsa. I also made homemade horchata! It was a little more time-consuming than I was prepared for, next time I think I'll just buy the powdered stuff from Walmart, it's way easier and still tastes good!
My in-laws have a snow cone machine, so we broke it out because it was summer and hot and why not?
Ok, my in-laws are just so fun! They bought this bounce house for the grandkids and we definitely had to break it out for the party. It was the biggest hit! The kids just bounced and ate snow cones while all the adults sat and chatted. It was awesome.
We also did a taco pinata starting with my son, and then going from youngest to oldest. None of the kids were actually able to break it all the way open, even the older kids! So my husband ended up just shaking it all over the sports court, the kids loved it.
I got his "dos" shirt off of Etsy, isn't he just the cutest??
My sister-in-law made this adorable cake! (@lunacakesco) She seriously is so talented and we are so grateful for her creativity, she really just levels up each of our birthday themes!
For party favors, I put together bags that each had one maraca and a Mamut treat in it (you can get the treats at Walmart). I had everyone sign the birthday book before they headed out! Like I said, a super simple party, but it was so fun to gather and celebrate our cute birthday boy:)
